Who we are The website provides information and guidance for those who are thinking about adopting a cat. It displays the pictures of the cats available for adoption and a short profile of each one. It also contains all the financial data, such as expenditures and donationsn Juliana and Susan run a blog where you can find background stories and interesting facts about our cats. The website is updated daily and has more than 10.000 page views every day. Juliana and Susan met in an internet chat group about cats. They both offered to rescue cats in a park in São Paulo and that was the start of everything. Since then, they have been working to have stray cats neutered or spayed, vaccinated and treated for infectious diseases, as well as keeping them in a safe shelter or a foster home. Since the very beginning they have counted on dr. Angélica Lang Klaussner, who has an extensive knowledge of cats, to provide veterinary assistance. Additionally, she offers her friendship and emotional support. The adult cats live in a shelter supported by AUG, while the kittens stay in foster homes until they are adopted. All the work behind the scenes is hard to believe. Juliana, Susan and the volunteers work full time and in addition they work with the website and the cats. They have to feed them twice a day, clean up after them and take them to the vet when necessary. Many times they put themselves at risk when they try to catch stray cats on the streets. They do everything they can to save them, but it is not always possible. But hard work pays! It’s so very nice to see how those starving cats are now eating well in their new homes. Also, they are sleeping in warm beds and being spoiled by a loving owner. In addition to the 13 official partners and 50 volunteers, AUG is supported by many people who donate money, cat food or medicine. Many also advertise the website or buy AUG products. In the beginning of 2007, Susan and Juliana decided to set up a NGO called AUG in order to legally constitute it. This was done so that they could pursue new challenges and officialize the volunteer work. Written by Piky, press agent
